I am addicted to Justin.tv - even if they won't answer me (AKA Justin.Fan 66)
Justin.tv is like The Truman Show, but entirely online with four friends live video blogging from San Francisco.
I just tried to talk to them via the chat room, but they didn't like my attempt to get attention with my ALL-CAPS questions.
And, so, I'm hoping that I can post this here to find out if anyone knows how long these guys are going to keep doing this...I mean, I do have to get SOME work done ;).

It is addictive. I've been watching since early launch day. There are a lot of jerks though. I blogged about some of the problems Justin has been having with them. Justin vs Griefers

Oh dear...how to get put off a site quickly....1) read Amber's blog....2) Go to site the moment Justin decides to go to the loo! Now that's bad timing!

This idea was WAY more interesting when that girl Jenni did it in 1996. Jennicam.org goes dark 2003 (cnn.com)

I thought about emailing you this, but figured you would just ignore it like all the other stuff that I thought was cool and sent you.

At this point I believe their plans are to do it indefinently.

I know what you mean about the time stealing, i just spent 30minutes watching them sit on their laptops at at 2am(their time) waiting for something to happen. I thought 'hey i should stop watching now..' and then realising that once i do stop watching something will probably happen and i don't want to miss it...it was a visious cycle.

I am glad you posted about this, I had never seen it until yesterday and was trying to get more info. How long have they been doing this for?
Posted by: Robert Nelson | March 22, 2007 at 06:26 AM
Jim, I sent this to Amber by del.icio.us.
I'm not sure if I was the first to send it to her.
If so, was I credited? No!
Do I care? No!
Your whining is getting tedious my friend.

Got the link from Nate in my del.icio.us feed - thank you so much!!! :)

Amber... For some reason no one remembers it, or maybe people just didn't have the bandwidth at the time, but there was a little group of Oberlin College, Ohio students who ran a site called HereAndNow.net that was years ahead of its time. Here's an old article...

As a TV/media guy, I was fascinated by this at the time. Yes, it was initially because I thought one of the women was very cute (she had a nose ring when no one had a nose ring back then), but it was more interesting because it wasn't pre-packaged and cut nonsense. What is mundane is sometimes kinda interesting!

I am heart broken "A". And can only console myself by listening to the wonderful albums of "Steeleye Span". (O woe - without answer.)

wow - some of u guys really don't get it. looking for credit from a journalist is many times a lost cause. amber has all u little minions running around doing her work for her and then she runs with the 'story' or 'new site' either on her blog or news spot. she gets paid - u don't. she's smart - u r dumb. sometimes she gets 'outed' and then back tracks and gives credit, e.g. nate. this is how the media works people, so don't be fooled.........

I always give credit, just slipped this time so I was quick to reply ;)!
THX!!!

I just sat here for 7 minutes watching them as they drove around listening to bad music. I'm not sure how I feel about this haha

I'm glad she is smart because - I AM dumb.

Wow, Amber...there’s a breaking news story there! It seems (well, according to whiners) that anyone who surfs the net, finds interesting sites, decided to share them with people via social bookmarking or email and then...god forbid, posts a comment under a blog, is at the bec’ and call of the blog writer?!
I’m with Nate...I share what I can with a number of people, not just Amber. If I wanted any credit I would have the sense to explicitly ask for it. I don’t where it ends up or who does what with it...if it was useful to someone, it’s served its purpose

I think Amber is very good natured and kind. Certainly she spends an inordinate amount of time making Bozos like you above far more important than you are.

I'm glad you like the site! Sorry if we didn't respond to you because you were talking in all caps... best way to ask questions is to text the justin.tv phone. And we're planning on staying live for as long as it's fun. If you're ever in SF, you should come by ... Beau from snipshot is a big fan (he's Canadian).

Hey fake 'nate'
Don't ever comment for me again, especially with something that offensive.
I think you need to grow up, learn to use a 'shift key' and your own identity.
Posted by: Nate | March 23, 2007 at 10:07 AM
phil - you have COMPLETELY missed my point. the criticism was aimed not as much at amber as it was at the minion who complained about not getting credit for his 'social net sharing'. as mentioned, amber is smart, she has all of u doing her research for her, then she sifts through the best sites and off she goes with her story. not particularly journalistic, but rather mundane 'reporting' on what others are doing. and she gets a cheque at the end of the day, u don't. i think it's brilliant.

Sorry to tie up Ambr's blog with this...and this is the last bit I'll say..but you miss the point. Amber has me doing nothing. Anything I share with her I share with others in exactly the same way. It's nothing I've researched or tracked down...it's the same sharing of web info and links I've done for years. You also seem to ignore the fact that social bookmarking sites make that whole process easy....and not something, as you seem to imply, that we have to spend hour tracking down on Amber's behalf. And seriously...how do you think news programs get all their other stories? It'd be hilarious if every item on TV had to be credited with its source! At least Amber goes to the effort of acknowledgment for those that seem insistent they get a mention.

I would be Amber's minion and day!

I would be Amber's minion any day!

Whoa! Did anyone else see that raid?

I appreciate every single link that gets sent along and I will continue to share all the gems here on my blog, couldn't imagine a better way to spread the link love ;).
Thanks everyone.
